My name is Freddy Velasquez. As a child I was always interested in art. I've tried painting, drawing and sculpting, but was not successful in those mediums. One day I noticed that my father had an old 35mm film camera, I picked it up and looked through the view finder and was amazed at what I saw. It felt as if a new window for my creativity to flow was opened.
Once I graduated high school I joined the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer for eight years. After my deployment to Iraq, I enrolled to Broward College majoring in Criminal Justice. I did not have any interest in this field. I saw that they offered photography classes and decided to change my major. Once I took the course I kept seeing myself as a child when I first picked up a camera and fell in love with photography once again. Later in 2009 I decided to leave Broward College and attend The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale where I have learned so much in photography. Now I focus more on the commercial market of photography specializing in product, fashion and advertising, but still open in creating all types of images. I was called for duty once more and deployed to Afghanistan in 2012. Once I returned, I finished school and received my Bachelor of Science in Photography.
